This Italian case is the Rossi model shown by Gallavrini: Tipocomposizione (1966) as part of a course of instruction published by Associazione Culturale Progresso Grafico, Torino. It has 127 boxes, 66 plus 18 in the upper and 33 in the lower section. By contrast, a normal English upper has 98 boxes, and a lower has 53 boxes (54 in U.S.). The normal Double has 49 upper plus 53 lower, ie 102 boxes.

Note that the central partition is offset to the left, and the upper bay has four (actually three plus one) rows, with eight boxes on the left, but three rows of eleven and one row of ten on the right (the boxes in this row of ten should all be the same size). Many of the upper case boxes are further subdivided. Note also the differing sizes of some of the larger lower case boxes. A very similar case is shown by Hostettler, with a type lay but with more upper case subdivisions for ligatures.

Gallavrini shows another Siciliano case with an offset partition, though with the smaller bay on the right, and with a more regular distribution of upper case boxes. He also shows three other cases, Romano with four rows of fourteen boxes, Veneto with four rows of sixteen boxes, and Napoletano with four rows of fifteen boxes, all with a central partition.
