This French case is shown by Muller: Nouveau Manuel de Typographie (nd but c.1910) as the new case established by M.E.Petit in 1908 from a study by a group of Parisian printers. By omitting small capitals, and rearranging the upper case boxes to be either side of the lower case bay, it is possible to hold all the type in the one single case. With 129 boxes, the case has more boxes than La Parisienne, which omits the superiors. At this period, there were still in use both single cases such as these, and the more traditional pairs of cases such as La Haut de Casse and La Bas de Casse.
