The layout is shown by Muller: Nouveau Manuel de Typographie (nd but c.1910) as one of the many current versions of French cases. It has a more regular arrangement of boxes than La Rationelle. Note that ¦¦ represents a double dagger. In comparison with English and U.S. lays, note the position of W and j in the upper bay, and i w k y in the lower bay. W is still treated as the ligatured VV, that is, a double V.

The empty configuration is La Parisienne. At this period, there were still in use both single cases such as these, and pairs of cases such as La Haut de Casse and La Bas de Casse.
