This Italian case is the Roman and French model shown by Gallavrini: Tipocomposizione (1966) as part of a course of instruction published by Associazione Culturale Progresso Grafico, Torino. It is almost the same as the Cassa Tipografica shown in the Enciclopedia Italiana (1949), apart from having an extra horizontal division in the terziruoli (spacing) box. It matches a case seen in a Venetian shop window in 1999. A suitable lay is shown by Gallavrini as Francese, but the case offsets the upper case partition to the right.

Note that there are effectively four rows of fourteen boxes in the upper case. Gallavrini shows two other cases, Veneto with four rows of sixteen boxes, and Napoletano with four rows of fifteen boxes, both with a central partition, and two others, Siciliano with four rows of fifteen, and Rossi with four rows of nineteen boxes, both with an off-centre partition.
