This Belgian typecase configuration matches the Hoogen Tekst Romein case (VV 2,6,R 47-O) (undated, but probably pre 1876) in the Plantin-Moretus Museum in 1998. It differs from the Klein Romein Onder only by dividing the t box in two, to allow for spacing. The companion Upper case is Hoogen Tekst Boven and the actual type lay is Hoogen Tekst Romein.

The Onder case has 53 boxes, as does an English Lower case, but has effectively only 3 rows of boxes, unlike U.K. and U.S. cases, which have 3½ rows. The case measures 33½ x 13¾ inches overall.

There are several other styles of Onder Kasse on view in the Plantin Museum, eg Middelbarr, Klein Canon, Laagen Ascendonica, Klein Romein, Kapitalen, Laagen Tekst.
