This Portuguese case configuration is the Caixa de versaletes shown by da Silva, Manual do Tipógrafo, 2nd ed. 1962. It is a three quarter sized case 66x47cm with 39 boxes and is used for small capitals. A rather simlar Portuguese threequarter case is Fancy Caps case, with 51 boxes and used for fancy capitals.
The case lay is Small Cap Case.
