The layout is shown by Muller: Nouveau Manuel de Typographie (nd but c.1910) as the new case established by M.E.Petit in 1908 from a study by a group of Parisian printers. It has a very different box arrangement to La Parisienne.

The boxes with e c, etc are superiors. The second ê box may be a mistake, but the original picture is not clear. Note the differing sizes of some of the lower case boxes, eg r is made larger than i, which is larger than p.

The empty configuration is La Rationnelle. At this period, there were still in use both single cases such as these, and pairs of cases such as La Haut de Casse and La Bas de Casse.
