This typecase is the model 2717 shown in Hamilton Manufacturing Co: Printing Plant Equipment, Type Storage Section, Catalog 16 (c.1932). It is designed to hold a regular fifty pound fount with an extra job fount of caps and five pounds of spaces and quads. It was supplied with twenty-four loose plain horizontal strips to divide up the type, by fitting the strips between the slotted vertical partitions.
