This Portugese typecase configuration of 1876 is that of Castro & Irmão shown in da Silva, Manual do Tipógrafo, 2nd ed. 1962. The case has 132 boxes, is 74x69cm, and the boxes have been arranged to better accommodate the various letters. The lay can be seen as Portugese Single. It may be that like Stanhope's rearrangement of an English case, it never proved to be popular, but a translation of da Silva's Portugese text describing the case is still awaited.
