Empty Jobbing Half Case

This English typecase construction is shown by Southward: Printers Register, 6 April 1872, and 6 December 1875, in Pryor: The History of the California Job Type Case, in Journal of the Printing Historical Society No.7 (1972). It is also shown by Southward in Practical Printing (1882). The case dimensions are 14 ins front to back by 16 ins across, and it is as adopted by a London Printing House of the time (McCorquodale). The case lay can be either Upper or Lower.

Another Half Upper case shown by Southward in 1882 is much simpler, having all seven rows of boxes the same size.
