This typecase configuration matches that of MacKellar: The American Printer (2nd edition 1866, and e.g. 5th ed. 1870, 15th ed. 1885 and still 17th ed. 1889). It is shown by American Type Founders, American Line Type Book (1906), and Barnhardt Bros & Spindler, Book of Type Specimens No.9 (1907) and the Hamilton Manufacturing Company, Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers, Catalog 14 (c.1907) and also shown by Southward, Practical Printing (1882 to 1900) and Jacobi, Printing, 5th ed. 1913.

The typecase is almost the same as the normal U.S. Lower case, except that the s box is divided into two. Note that the BBS version divides the h and o boxes as well, and a later Lockwood version (1894) divides the o and h boxes horizontally rather than vertically, and widens the w box.
