This typecase construction is the Scotch Ordinary Double Jobbing Case illustrated by Stephenson, Blake & Co: Printing Material & Machinery (1922), and Caslon: Printing Materials (1925). The Alembic Press had one in use in 1974 and still in 2009, made by Miller & Richard. The Press also has a version by Marr Type Co with seven rows, rather than nine rows in the upper case (right hand) section. Note that as well as having a different box arrangement in the lower case bays, Scottish cases are slightly larger than their English counterparts, being 35 x 15 ins rather than 32½ x 14½ ins.

The Scottish Improved Double Case differs only in having 5 rows of boxes in the upper case section, rather than 9 rows.
