This typecase lay is shown by Hostettler: Technical Terms of the Printing Industry (1949, and still in 4th rev ed 1963) as being the German/Swiss lay as used by Zollikofer & Co AG for the Latin (as opposed to Fraktur) alphabet. The empty case is German/Swiss Latin and there is an equivalent Fraktur case and lay.

The ¦ represents a single dagger, -- is en rule (Halbgeviertgedankenstrich) and --- em rule (Geviertgedankenstrich). Spacing is 1½p = starke spatien 1/3p=drittelspatien ¼p = viertelspatien ½p = halbgevierte (and 1pt = haarspatien).
