This Belgian configuration corresponds to the Casse Ordinaire Haut de Casse shown by Dumont: Vade-Mecum du Typographe (1894 and 4th ed 1915), as used in the Brussells School of Typography. It is very close to La Française of Muller: Nouveau Manuel de Typographie (nd but c.1910), except that Dumont has extra small boxes in rows four and five, and one less small box in the bottom row. Unlike the older Upper of Moxon (1683), and Diderot (1751), etc., it has additional boxes in some rows, for superior characters, and separated ligatures, etc. The actual layout is Belgian French Upper, and the corresponding empty Lower case is Belgian French Lower.
