This French layout is that of Lefèvre: Recueil complet d'impositions, exécutées en caractès mobiles, suivi d'une nouvelle classification de la casse française (1838) shown in Audin: Histoire de l'imprimerie par l'image (1929). It differs from Lefèvre's Haut de Casse of 1880 as, for example, here Lefèvre has the capitals going from bottom to top, whereas in his other lay they start at the top and go down. Diderot's case of 1751 also has the capitals starting at the top, and still so shown in 1916 by Legros and Grant. Another difference is that here J and U are in alphabetic sequence, although W is still separated out.

Lefèvre's (lower) bas de casse is Lefèvre, and the empty upper case is that of Moxon (1683), Diderot, et al.

The boxes with A,B, etc are small caps, and with c etc. are superiors. The V/ and R/ represent Versicle and Response.
