Hieroglyphic Case

hieroglyph lay, first portion
hieroglyph lay, second portion
This type lay is taken from Legros & Grant: Typographical Printing Surfaces (1916), and are cases from the Institut français du Caire (Cairo). The full fount of 3972 signs uses 62 cases, including a special one for spacing. It is not clear whether the cases as shown here are in fact two separate cases, or one combined case, as Legros says it is an ordinary case made up of four sections. If two separate cases, their empty configurations are Empty 1st and Empty 2nd.
