This Italian typecase configuration matches that in Enciclopedia Italiana (1937). The companion Lower Case is Cassa Bassa. It is not clear whether these two cases exist as two separate cases, or as one combined case. Lockwood in 1894 showed two separate cases, fairly similar to these, but a later edition of the Enciclopedia in 1949 shows a Single case, as does Hostettler in 1963, albeit with a very different configuration. Cases on view in various shop windows in Venice in 1999 were also combined cases.

The actual type lay is Cassa Alta.
