This typecase construction is the Greek Lower shown in the layout sheets of Figgins c.1907, and by Caslon: Printing Materials (1925). The equivalent Upper Case is Greek Upper.

The Caslon Lower has 43 boxes and shows a further reduction from Stower's Greek Lower of 1804, in the discarding of the divided boxes for beta and theta and their alternative characters. Savage in 1841 shows an Old Greek and a New Greek lower case, where the gradual cessation of the alternative characters can be seen, though not to the same extent as in Stower's case.
