This little book is the second in a planned sequence of four miniature books celebrating the garden through the seasons. Summer is the season of richness and opulence in the garden, of bold colour and blooms at their fullest, and it is these aspects that this book has aimed to capture. The text forms the garden path, which is abundantly edged with summer plants, birds, bees, snails, etc. The text path is folded accordian style but with a number of changes of direction as it travels down the garden. The whole book when opened out makes a large square sheet with a three-colour linocut of a bright red poppy on the back. Muriel Mallows has done her lovely line illustrations around the text and in addition she has hand coloured each book individually.
