This U.S. typecase configuration matches the Wells Two Fount Job case of American Type Founders Desk Book of Type and Printing Materials (1900) and American Line Type Book (1906), and Barnhardt Bros & Spindler Book of Type Specimens No.9 (1907) and Hamilton Manufacturing Company >Modern Cabinets, Furniture and Materials for Printers, Catalog 14 (c.1907) and the Wells Job (Hamilton model 2765) of Hamilton Manufacturing Co Modern Printing Office Furniture, Catalog 15 (1922), and American Type Founders Catalogue (1923), and Hamilton Manufacturing Co Printing Plant Equipment, Type Storage Section, Catalog 16 (c.1932), and Thompson Cabinet Co Equipment for Printing Plants Catalog 47 (c.1949), and American Printing Equipment & Supply Co Catalog (1983 and 1987). It is also called a Hamilton Double Cap by Polk The Practice of Printing (rev ed 1964). The case holds two founts of caps and figures, and the cap boxes are one third larger than the normal News Cap case. A suitable lay is ATF's Wells Job or Polk's similar Double Cap lay. The typecase is 323/16 x 165/8 inches. In the diagram, the boxes in the top row should all be the same size.
