This typecase construction matches the Hebrew Lower shown by Van Winkle: The Printers Guide (1818) and Timperley: The Printers' Manual (1838) and Southward: Practical Printing (1882 and upto and including 3rd ed 1887). It has 56 boxes, unlike a normal English Lower with 53 boxes or U.S. Lower with 54 boxes. The equivalent Upper Case is the standard Moxon configuration.
The case is a slight modification of Johnson's case, by having six small boxes in the top row of the left bay (for points).
