This French case is shown by Hostettler, Technical terms of the printing industry (1949, and 4th rev ed 1963) as being the case in use by Chambres des Imprimeurs in Paris. It is also shown by da Silva, Manual do Tipógrafo, 1962 as a case used by the Portugese for French. It is almost the same as the case shown by Audin, Histoire de l'imprimerie par l'image (1929) as Morin's La Parisienne and in use at the Ecomusée Voltaie, Genève in 2004, except there is one more divided box in that case (for / — rather than just —).

The type lay is Hostletter's French Single or da Silva's French Single.
