This U.S. typecase configuration is shown in Barnhart Bros & Spindler Pony Specimen, 1890s and is also the Improved Lower of Cleveland Type Foundry Catalogue and Price List of Type and Material, 1893. The lay is Boss News Lower. Note the different arrangement of boxes in the right hand bay, bottom row, and left hand bay, third column, and bottom row of fourth column, compared with the normal U.S. Lower case.
