This Italian typecase configuration matches that in Enciclopedia Italiana (1937). The # box is for spazi fini (1½pt). The other spacing is spazi mezzani (3pt), quadratini (6pt), quadratoni (12pt), forti and quadrati.

The companion Upper Case is Cassa Alta. It is not clear whether these two cases exist as two separate cases, or as one combined case. Lockwood in 1894 showed two cases, but a later edition of the Enciclopedia in 1949 shows a Single case, as does Hostettler in 1963, albeit with a very different configuration.

The empty case configuration is Cassa Bassa.
